GRAPE
Two types of nutrients stand out in the grape's composition:
sugar and B complex vitamins. It contains few protein and fats. The
protein fructose, which are simple sugars and are capable of passing

GRAPEFRUIT
Grapefruit
pulp contains a moderate amount of carbohydrate and very few proteins.
Among its vitamins, the most prominent is c, although less than that of
orange or lemon. It does not contain sodium; the potassium content is
high in addition to a certain amount of calcium and magnesium.
Grapefruit contain pectin which is a type of soluble vegetable fiber
found in the fiber forming its pulp and in the whitish layer just below
the skin and between the sections. This fiber stands out for its
arterial protection and its anti-cholesterol effects. It contains
flavonoids which improves blood flow and has antioxidant and
anticarcinogen properties. They are also good source of beta-carotene,
which produce vitamin A. grapefruit is recommended in the following
areas:-
(1) It serves as a check on prostrate cancer: - lycopene, the
antioxidant found in pink and red grapefruit helps to lower the
risk of developing prostrate cancer. It contains some acid, which
prevents cancerous growth. Regular consumption of grape fruit is a good
way of preventing cancer
(2) Treatment of heart disease:- the absence
of sodium and fat in grapefruit as well as its high level of potassium
makes its very suitable for those suffering from heart disease,
particularly heart failure. Those suffering from hypertension should
also eat abundant amount of grape fruit.
(3) Serve as body
cleanser:-grapefruit cleanse the blood thus promoting the body's
detoxification particularly the liver. Drinking a glass of grapefruit
juice on an empty stomach each morning is an excellent way of

(4) Obesity control: - because of its

Note:- it is advantageous
to eat the whole grapefruit including the white layer just beneath the
peel and between the sections with its pectin-rich fiber. The grapefruit
juice is also very good, it ca be mixed with orange or lemon juice.

This
may be done either with the whole fruit or the juice. This treatment
begins by eating one grapefruit on an empty stomach, two the next day,
and so forth up to five after the fifth day reduce the dose by one each
day down to one. Then for the next five days after, continue eating one
grapefruit a day until completing the two week course of treatment.
